A Mikoyo'an Page

Greetings. My name is Ye'ksuri Faewyn, a Mikoyo'an [Mee`koh`yoh`ahn]. A Mikoyo'an is an elf from Mikoyo-Tani Mori. The Mikoyo-Tani Mori realm is very close to the Earth realm. The Mikoyo'ans have adjusted and adapted things from the Earth realm in the Mikoyo'an realm. Most elder Mikoyo'ans only speak Mikoyo'aa, while younger Mikoyo'ans speak Mikoyo'aa and usually other Earth realm languages. English has become popular as a second language for Mikoyo'ans. P.S. - The picture to the left is of me, however, the writing is of a short-hand style of writing of old  Mikoyo'aa. Elders usually use this form.

    Mikoyo'ans are a peaceful people. Skilled at many things from languages, magick, craftmanship, tailoring, art, etc. Each Mikoyo'an is born with a special ability that is shown around at six (Earth years) - around four in Mikoyo'paksu (Mikoyo'an years). Each Mikoyo'an has a special ability in magick also that they develop in Earth teen years.  Usually the special abilities aid them in Mikoyo'an careers in helping the community.

    Mikoyo-Tani Mori is not large. At last count, there was about only 400 Mikoyo'ans. Mikoyo-Tani Mori is adapted from an Earth language and our home is commonly known as that. In the beginning it was just known as Mikoyo. But, then Suksola Tewo'a - a high magician - recieved an energy calling for more in a name to call out and described to others. There was two choices "Mikoyo-Kiwarekso Gafaedpi" or "Mikoyo-Tani Mori". "Mikoyo-Kiwarekso Gafaedpi" means "Mikoyo village of high power", and "Mikoyo-Tani Mori" means "Mikoyo peaceful place". There was a vote and it was finally decided by elder-advisor Yenoba Li'e'wo. As you can tell, Mikoyo-Tani Mori was chosen. Mikoyo-Tani Mori has an elder-advisor, two high magicians, and a Hyda'ksula'jopa - ruler of people. It is like Earth monarchy, with a little democracy, etc. Mikoyo'an people hold power, but all decisions of political things are made by the Hyda'ksula'jopa. The high magicians perform Mikoyo'an ceremonies, and the elder-advisor advises the Hyda'ksula'jopa.

    Mikoyo civilisation is quite young compared to others, but it's heritage is still lively. Some Mikoyo'ans reside on the Earth realm as a change of pace. Though, a Mikoyo'an is always welcome back into their own home and any powers they have are only slightly diminished when entering the Earth realm, but are soon restored to normal when returning back to Mikoyo-Tani Mori. Mikoyo'an civilisation only began about 1800 years ago (Earth terms). The founder who founded the civilisation was Mikoyo Katak. He was a lone traveler that had fought many battles on the realm and came across a peasant village. They had no laws or much of morals. Mikoyo was skillful at magick and tought the peasants some if they let him stay in the village. Then one day a group of barbarians called, "Op'wo-lyks" came and started to burn the village and take people as prisoners. Mikoyo raised his sword calling to the ancient gods, a sacred chant to fight evil, and pointed it at the leader. A red surge of energy flowed from the sword straight at the leader and struck him in the chest. The leader fell backward and was bloody from head to toe. The other Op'wo-lyks froze in terror, dropping the prisoners and fleeing the scene. The villagers were amazed at his power, they had no idea Mikoyo was capable of calling the power of the gods. Mikoyo was then treated as royalty for saving their peasant area, and it was named "Mikoyo". A priest was chosen to learn from Mikoyo and record his honours and words. This is how we know, "Mikoyo'wo opfeiko rega" - "Mikoyo's victorious begining".

    Mikoyo'ans put their last name first and first name last. Among strangers a Mikoyo'an is called by their last name and by family and friends they are known by their first. "Ye'ksuri" means "Water Magick" or "Magick Water". Faewyn is just a first name, written in Mikoyo'aa pronounciation is "Feiwyn". Not as nice as the English way of writing it. Young Mikoyo'ans have a tendancy to switch to Earth-English Realm languages and ways just because it's not Mikoyo'an. Some polpular Mikoyo'an first names are (for girls): Mik'awa, Ksuyo and Y'ri. For boys: Rokao, Kabeka and Patak'do.

    Now, Mikoyo'aa. Ya gafedo jika iou. "I will help you." Mikoyo'aa has it's own writing and punctuation of symbols. But it can be witten in English letters. But, first pronounciation. Consonants are like English. A is like "ah", E is like "eh", I is like "ee" (meet), O is like "oh", U is like "oo" ("loo"), Y is like "i" (hit or big) - except for YA, YI, YE, YO - where it is like in "yet". KS is one thing. A ' in the middle of a word means for a pause or a sharp breath of air before continuing.
